Every virus needs a catchy name, and now the new coronavirus linked to the Middle East that has infected 40 people and killed half of them has one: Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus or (MERS-CoV).
Two people have died and five others have been hospitalized in a mysterious cluster of respiratory illnesses in southeast Alabama, state health officials said.

Seven people have been admitted to area hospitals, and two of them have died, in what health officials described Tuesday as a “cluster” of respiratory illnesses with flulike symptoms.

According to the report, the Unexplained Respiratory Disease Outbreak (URDO) group is a team of CDC officials with expertise in respiratory diseases. It was formed to assist public health officials in investigation of respiratory disease outbreaks.
