On February 11, 2014 twenty-five Protestants families in La Trinitaria, Mexico had their electricity and water utilities’ cut off for refusing to participate in a Traditionalist Catholic religious ceremony. They were also put under house arrest and no visitors allowed to come or go further intensifying the situation. Families or persons belonging to the Mount Tabor Evangelical Church are expected to contribute 500 Pecos (about $38) towards religious festivals. It quite obvious that there some families who do not practice such traditions. This is not religious freedom and amounts to nothing more than “religious taxation” to further the traditions of a man made religiosity.
